our vision

Given our founders’ heritage, Caribbean liviity isn’t something that is accessed through a vacation abroad. It’s our everyday lives. We wanted to create an event that centreed a sport indigenous to region while celebrating the ways of living that has contoured our lives.

Cane & Breadfruit emerged as an experiential agency specializing in Caribbean-driven sport and wellness activations. The agency is powered by two creative professionals who connected as post-graduate students in George Brown Polytechnic’s Sport & Event Marketing program. They’ve combined their passion for culture and marketing to bridge the gap between Canadian sport and wellness enthusiasts and Caribbean-inspired sport initiatives.

    Sharine Taylor (she/her) is an award-winning, Toronto-based, interdisciplinary creative. She has 10+ years of experience in media, film, marketing and advertising industries.

    Across mediums and forums, she unites communities through writing, production and executing strategic, culturally-relevant partnerships.

    Sharine is the co-founder of women’s sports lifestyle brand, Don’t Call Me Baby.

    MARKETING, HUMAN RESOURCES & PHILANTHROPIC ENGAGEMENT

    Marcia Garnes (she/her) is a Toronto-based photographer and award-winning makeup artist whose work blends authenticity with artistry.

    When she’s not capturing the beauty of the complex world, Marcia offers marketing consulting services and leads The Pink Onda Project, a meaningful international initiative of her own.
